The Leprechaun Trap!
Every month, Roan's teacher sends home a "Family Project" assignment. This month, the kids had a choice: they could decorate a rainbow, or build a Leprechaun trap. Roan chose to build a trap. I was proud of him, because it would have been a lot less work to decorate a rainbow. The assignment explained that the trap shouldn't be much bigger than a shoe box, that it had to have at least one moving part and that the child had to explain how it worked to his classmates. It went on to explain that Leprechauns are tricky! They love shiny, colorful things and that they disobey rules and signs.
So, Roan, Libby, Shannon and I put our heads together, went to Menard's and Hobby Lobby, and started building a trap!
This is Roan paining a small wooden chest...just to prove that he did most of the work!
Here's the finished project. A glittery gold path will lead the Leprechaun past several signs warning him to "stay away" and "no Leprechauns allowed"! There's a big pot of gold inside the chest. When he dives, for the gold, the lid comes down and will trap the tricky Leprechaun!
